Darshanty

THE GREAT ASHTRAY

The centerpiece of Darshanty is a low technology communications device, containing negative space and written words. It isn’t an entertainment center but an anti-fishing hole; one that users must feed if the function of Darshanty is to be fulfilled. What is the function of a place that leaves one more empty for their visit? As the saying goes, give til it hurts. This is a bait-shop of sorts, but the shopping must occur in the walls of one’s skull. The smooth lake surface with it’s bracing wind and the promise of open handed goodwill and calm, encouraged by winter’s slowing hand; these things are the bait of Darshanty. Visitors will grasp winter air in the wall-less confines of this good ship, and wonder at its clean orifice of icelessness and woodlessness, taking these aerial aspects inward, like a fist loosening. All carry-on baggage is subject to disposal, and you will be the quicker for it, perhaps even light enough to fly.

Darshanty is open to the public for smoking at all hours, for the duration of the exhibition.
